Teaching young learners (YLs) is an essential part of life at ILA, but many teachers feel nervous teaching in a YL classroom. To give our teachers the skills and confidence they require ILA gives all new teachers a 2 week input session on teaching young learners. Based on the now phased out CELTYL, our training course delivers practical and useful advice to ensure our teachers are confident and successful in the classroom.

This course is provided for free by ILA, and Teachers are paid a supplement after successfully completing it and starting a full-time contract.

Workshops are offered each month and cover a broad range of topics relevant to EFL teaching, encompassing classroom management, teaching methodology, practical activities and new theories in EFL. Teachers can also suggest workshop topics on areas they feel would be useful to them. Each center runs at least 2 workshops a month. Teachers can visit workshops at any center, that means teachers have at least 40 workshops per month to choose from!

We strongly encourage career progression in all our teachers. Many members of academic management have been ILA teachers and received support and training to take on new roles

ILA is a fantastic place to work for those who are career minded.

There is a clear career path for our teachers. With some experience teachers can apply for teacher coordinator roles. Teachers coordinators work to help deliver the academic qaulity ILA is famous for. Teacher coordinators report to the academic manager.

Due to our size and focus on professional development, ILA provides teaching opportunities that most schools cannot: apart from the academic route listed above we also employ expat staff in other roles, materials developer, marketing, HR or even CELTA/DELTA trainers. The possibilities are endless.
